The GS1 Digital Link standard extends the reach and flexibility of GS1 identifiers by making them part of the Internet. GS1 identifiers, such as GTINs, are transformed into links to consumer information that strengthens brand loyalty, improves traceability along supply chains, connects business partners, improves patient safety and more.

While a regular URL points to a specific website, GS1 Digital Link connects different types of business-to-business and business-to-consumer data. If you put a GS1 QR code or NFC tag on a product, it means that it has a URL encoded in it that contains a GS1 identifier. By scanning the same symbol, different sources of information can be accessed, including product data, instructions for use, promotions and more, saving space and improving efficiency.
